The answer is both. The chances are that if you’re an active internet user and gaming or anime fan with a cool, nerdy side, you’re an E-girl.
E-girl (E-kid) is a Gen Z youth subculture referring to those who follow the modern lifestyle of the ‘electronic girl.’
“E-girl” was initially used as a derogatory term in gaming sites to describe female players who looked for male attention. In June 2009, “E-girl” was included in Urban Dictionary as “Call her an E girl cause she’s always after the D.”
However, in the 2010s, thanks to the video-sharing app TikTok, the meaning of E-girl changed to attractive alternative girls who love to play video games online.
What is E-Girl Fashion Style?
Emerging in the 2010s, the E-girl fashion style combines alternative fashion styles, such as Emo, Scene, and Mall Goth, with Japanese fashion styles, such as Anime, Cosplay, Kawaii, and Lolita fashion, and K-pop fashion styles.
